Ryan Rix, LMFT

You may be used to being the person who holds everything together—working hard, keeping others happy, and setting high expectations for yourself. Yet underneath, you might feel anxious, overwhelmed, or unsure why your efforts aren’t bringing the peace or connection you want.

In your relationships, you may find yourself having the same arguments, struggling to express what you need, or feeling distant from someone you love.

I believe we often do the best we can with the tools we have. But sometimes, the ways we’ve learned to cope leave us feeling stuck. Therapy offers space to understand these patterns, learn skills we weren’t taught, and develop new ways of relating to ourselves and others. With support, we can grow beyond what has felt familiar.

Who I enjoy working with

I especially enjoy working with people navigating anxiety, people-pleasing, and perfectionism. You might overthink decisions, struggle to say no, feel responsible for other people’s emotions, or have a hard time feeling that what you do is enough. Together, we can explore what keeps these patterns going and practice ways to respond with greater confidence, flexibility, and trust in yourself.

I also enjoy supporting individuals with relationship concerns and couples who want to communicate more effectively, repair after conflict, and feel connected again. Whether you feel caught in repeated disagreements or have gradually grown apart, our work can help you understand what happens between you, express your needs more clearly, and make room for each other’s experiences.

My approach

My background spans acute care and outpatient therapy, where I’ve worked with people facing a wide range of challenges. These experiences have reinforced my belief in people’s capacity for change when they feel supported and have tools that fit their needs.

My approach is patient, collaborative, and practical. I offer validation and understanding alongside gentle challenges to thoughts, beliefs, and behaviors that may be keeping you stuck. We’ll work together to understand what you’re experiencing and build skills you can use in everyday life.

There is room for both accepting where you are and working toward something different. I consider it an honor to support you in that process.

A little about me

I’m a husband and father who grew up in a small town in Northern Canada, where I spent much of my time outdoors. Nature still helps me recharge, and I enjoy challenging myself through new experiences and adventures.

Outside of work, you’ll often find me traveling, reading at home, designing and building things, or climbing a rock.

Let’s connect

Finding a therapist you feel comfortable with matters. If my approach resonates with you, please call, text, or email me. I’d welcome the opportunity to hear what brings you to therapy, answer your questions, and explore whether we might be a good fit.
